TW/CW: Attempted murder
Prologue
January, 8th, 2003
Natallia Arloŭskaja, the personification of the Republic of Belarus, finally snapped in a deranged matter. How dare her older sister, Iryna Chernenko, the personification of Ukraine, speak to the country she had developed feelings for? It was alarming enough that Iryna had stolen the attention of her dear older brother, Ivan Braginsky, the personification of the Russian Federation. Natallia saw red when Iryna waved at the country, smiling at them as they returned to their seat. Natallia pulled out her knife and stormed furiously at Iryna.
"DIE!" Natallia bellowed as she stabbed Iryna in her left breast. "How dare you?! You've already taken enough from me!"
The personifications of the other countries in the meeting room froze and stared at the scene in shock. Ivan had a horrified expression as he ran towards his sisters.
"Natallia…" Iryna was too confused to speak anymore as she fell on her knees, covering her wound with her hand.
Natallia did not listen to reason. All she wanted was for Iryna to suffer a painful death. Natallia attempted to slice Ukraine's neck, but they got in her way. Natallia widened her eyes in shock when they caught her hand, causing her to drop the knife onto the floor. They protected Iryna from her.
"Why would you do such a thing to your own fresh blood? You should be ashamed." They censured her in front of everyone.
"How would you know?" Natallia grimaced at them icily.
"Someone called the hospital and apprehended Miss Belarus!" Ludwig Beilschmidt, the personification of the Federal Republic of Germany, commanded after finally snapping out of the shock and silence in the meeting room.
Everyone was in a panic mode. The male countries screamed and questioned while the female countries pinned Natallia onto the floor. Ivan finally reached Iryna and helped her to her foot. He took off his scarf and wrapped it around Iryna's wound.
"To think you'd go that far, Natallia," Ivan sounded so distressed as he placed his arm around Iryna's shoulder and walked away from Natallia while shooting a cold and sad gaze at her.
"Get the fuck off me!" Natallia screamed in rage at the female countries.
"Please stop it, Miss Belarus! Don't make it worse for yourself than it already is!" Mei Xiao Ling, the personification of Taiwan, aka the Republic of China, used all her strength to keep Natallia down. "You need to fight the monster within you!"
"Shut the hell up! You don't need a thing about me, Taiwan!"
"I'm sorry to do this, Miss Belarus." Lien Chi Pham, the personification of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, said sympathetically. "But, there are consequences to your actions."
And Natallia blacked out as Lien knocked her out with her palm.

Natallia's trial was located in an underground private court for countries. The judges were Alexander and Mia, the personification pair of Europe. Natallia had heard about Alexander and Mia. They lived more than millennia, even before the European countries were born. Alexander and Mia weren't their real names, as their original names have been lost in history. There was no jury in this court. The witnesses would be enough to convict Natallia
"Please show mercy for my dear little sister!" Iryna pleaded to the judges and witnesses. "Natallia has her reasons for what she had done to me! Please forgive her, I beg you!"
"I don't believe it," Neculai Andronic, the personification of Romania, shook his head in disappointment. "Iryna, I know you care about your little sister a lot, but even there is a limit to your kindness."
"Well said," Ludwig closed his eyes and folded his arms. "Miss Belarus needs to be held accountable for her sinister actions."
"How dare you call my actions sinister, you bastard!" Natallia snarled at Ludwig. "You don't know anything about me!"
"Silence, Miss Belarus," Mia demanded coldly. "The sentence is 50 years in isolation. Well, originally, it was."
"WHAT?!" Natallia screamed at Mia enragedly.
"However, my partner and I decided to lessen the sentence to 10 years, Miss Natallia Arloŭskaja, the Personification of the Republic of Belarus. You should thank your older sister for this mercy sentence." Alexander added, eying at Natallia in a stern matter. "Your human boss will pay the Ukrainian and Russian governments for the damages."
"Why does my boss also have to pay for Big Brother's government?!"
"Because Mr. Russia is also your blood, Miss Belarus," Mia explained. "Have you ever heard the saying? Whatever harmed your sibling, your other sibling also feels the pain."
"No…" Natallia stepped away from the criminal stand. "I…would never do such a thing to Ivan…She's the one that I wanted dead!" She pointed at Iryna aggressively. "For betraying me!"
"I never betrayed you, Natallia!" Iryna sobbed. "You're my baby sister! I would never hurt you!"
"LIES! You're a fucking lair!" Natallia inflamed at Iryna with fury.
"Please! I beg you!" Ivan exclaimed in distress as he shed tears. "Please give my little sister the help she needs!"
"Not you too, Ivan! How could you?!" Natallia scowled at Ivan.
"Very well," Alexander closed his eyes. He took a deep breath. "Miss Natallia Arloŭskaja, the personification of the Republic of Belarus, you're sentenced to 10 years in an underground mental hospital. You will be isolated from your fellow countries."
And Alexander slammed his gavel onto a block.

Natallia wore a simple white-colored hospital gown. She sat on a bed, her hands on her lap. She kept her head down as she stared at the floor. Her room was a simple one with a bed and a desk. There was an open window with white bars. Of course, the window would have bars. To prevent her from escaping this hellhole that she'd have to spend 10 years in. The color of the ceiling and the wall were white, while the floor was also white. Too much white for Natalliato the point she'd felt like vomiting.
At least a mental hospital was better than a prison sentence. Natallia was served three healthy meals and could go out for fresh air for 20 minutes a day. However, for the time being, Natallia wasn't allowed to have visitors. Natallia gritted her teeth bitterly.
'Like hell, I'd want my horrible siblings visiting me,' Natallia clenched her hands. 'They're the ones who put me in here. I have my damned reasons for wanting to take that traitor's life. She knew how I felt about that country.'
Natallia looked up at the ceiling and smiled maniacally. Her eyes were full of revulsion. She started to laugh so loud in a psychotic matter to begin her ten-year isolation.
'Iryna, Ivan. You are both fools. Isolation is tamed compared to harsher punishments.'

A/N: This is a rewrite of an old Hetalia fanfic I've written back in 2013 and finished in 2015. The original was originally posted on FanFiction.Net. Like the idiot I was, I ended up deleting the whole thing off the internet because I realized the fanfic sucked. Since then, I regretted getting rid of the original and wished I never deleted it. Well, here is a rewrite and things may or may not be different from the original. We'll see.
Revision note (1/18/2026): I learned Belarus' full human name is actually spelled as Natallia Arloŭskaja in the Belarusian spelling and Belarusian fans had expressed discomforts to the Russian spellings, Natalia or Natalya because of obvious historical reasons. I got this infomation from the Hetalia wiki, but I haven't found a source of this claim so I will take it as grain of salt and out of respect for the Belarusian history, I've revised Belarus's human name in the fanfic.
